Reading the Tea Leaves

Yea, because business never gets dirty. It would be slimy because Ty wanted to sign vets while Lindsay wanted a full rebuild. To blame Ty for everything is wrong. The roster sucks except for the first 4 or 5 guys and there are several inexperienced players on the team.

I know most people have wanted Ty gone day one so that is probably why some people might not think it is slimy especially when you consider all the stuff Ty has had to deal with. However, I am sure Ty haters don't see it that way.

Hes been given a interim season, a lockout season, a FULL season, and now this season to get it right. I don't know how many chances your supposed to get as a head coach, but if regression is all a coach is showing up to that point, I don't see what the point would be to extend his contract.

This is business in the end is about the Utah Jazz, not Tyrone Corbin.

And say what you want, other than the point guard position, he was given a stacked roster last year.

We can trade Favors..maybe we should. His stock is high right now.
I would be disappointed in losing Burks but i would understand the decision.
I'm excited for the coming off season.

Rush, favors, Burke stay. Building around defense, shooters and team concept. Burks gone. Imho.

You don't trade Favors until you have a real coach. Especially when Favors and Burke look like they are made for each other.

P&R with Burke and Favors, with Burke having the ability to pull up, drive for a layup, toss an oop to Favors or kick it to Hayward open for a corner three.

When Burke comes back, we will take another step back...for a couple of weeks. Once Burke gets going, this will be a completely different Jazz team.

I think you keep Favors for now, and don't even think about making a decision until Kanter comes up for an extension/2014 draft finishes. Take the BPA and then see what happens after that. I don't move Favors unless it brings back an All-Star. Not potential, but someone who is a current All-Star.

This is a great point that hasn't been brought up yet. It would be interesting to see what someone else might be able to do with this group. Just another reason why Corbin should be gone.

I don't know if I agree with all of this. I look forward to Burke's return with cautious optimism. He will be an upgrade from what we have but I am not ready to declare him as a top 15 or even top 20 PG in the league.

I never said top 15 or top 20. I just think this team really needs a leader. Big time. Someone to run a play and yell at the players if they don't play defense. The vets we have are just collecting a paycheck, and Favors, Hayward and Kanter don't seem to want to step up and take responsibility for the team.

I disagree completely. If you're looking for a big time coach you include them in critical decisions early. Political correctness be damned.

So, you would trade Favors before you brought in another coach? I'm not quite sure I understand you.

I do think you key in the new coach on any trades and personnel moves. I don't think you move (give up on) Favors yet.

I think you don't trade Favors unless a) someone's offering another potential All Star, b) the Jazz draft Embiid and move Kanter to PF, c) the Jazz draft Randle and think Kanter has enough defensive presence at center, or d) Gobert bulks up and turns into a 7'2" Alonzo Mourning. Until then, Favors is at least our Serge Ibaka, and a front court with Favors, Kanter and Parker would be tough to beat.

While we're at it, I still like Alec Burks, and think he has as much physical ability as anyone on the roster. The Jazz have liked a 3-guard rotation in the past, and Burks could still be that third card.

The key is that we have NBA talent at every position, and that gives us the flexibility to draft BPA and move other players around accordingly.

too late to read.. I wouldn't make any important move until courting a real coach and taking some suggestions from same.

Remember, this is what Favors looks like when he's motivated. Right now, he's a guy who just signed a big contract and is stuck doing post duty on a team that wants to lose.

I personally see only Kanter on this team in 2016 from core 4. The team will be completely re-built after rookie season of our 2014 picks under a new coach. Few guys could be traded before that.

Neg train.

franklin, why did you neg rep this? Then comment "stfu"?

Or are you just 100% a troll? Just wondering.

I may make this a several part post so as not to lose the attention of those that don't like reading posts with multiple sentences.

Anyway, call it more of a gut feel, but I am getting a feel for who stays, who goes, what we do in the draft, trades, and FA.
Wow.. we have a brazillian options in front of us.

So I'm going to skip to the very end and over the coming days will explain why I feel the way I do.

Who stays;
Burke
Hayward
Rush
Kanter
Gobert
Harris

Favors and Burks get traded.
Between those trades, the available cap space/FA, and the draft, we pick up;
1) veteran stud PG (trade or FA)
2) defensive center (gsw pick netting Embiid or WCS - or from trade/FA)
3) A versatile scoring forward with our own pick (Randle or Parker)

Ty fired toward end of season or off season.

I know this post will be replied to with much vitriol.. it's okay. I have thick skin.. say what you mean and let's have some healthy debate and figure this out. Then we can look back and see how well we, collectively, saw the strategy.
(Again, I'll defend my thoughts as to how I arrived at the above predictions shortly.)

Exactly what I read from my tea cup yesterday.
