Why we are going to draft Gordon Hayward...

Gordon Hayward is NOT going to get anymore physically impressive other than maybe adding 10 lbs of muscle. His appeal isnt in his physical ability.

...so, you're saying his appeal is basketball BRAINS....and the ability to hit an OPEN jump shot, set screens and picks, stay in front of his man and no jail house tats???

From Chad Ford's chat:

David (Provo, UT)

Doesn't Greg Monroe belong in a Jazz uniform? Any way he drops at all or for Utah to move up to obtain him?

Chad Ford (12:34 PM)

I think the Jazz would've liked any of the players in the Top 7 -- Monroe included. Yes, he would've been a good fit. But if he's gone they're faced with either Ed Davis or Patrick Patterson in the front court or Xavier Henry, Luke Babbitt or Gordon Hayward on the wing. As of this morning the team was still debating what to do. So ... I'll just give my two cents here. I think they should take Hayward.

These "who should we darft" threads always backfire, I tellya. Many have done gone on record expressing their extreme hatred of Hayward. Now watch the Jazz draft him. Then watch, for the next 3 years, an endless series of threads every time someone's else's favorite has a good game, and every time Hayward fails to rack up triple-double, ya know?

I can see it now...a whole new website: Haywardsucks.com

And when their guy sucks or starts breaking down, they change their user name and talk about how much they love Deron Williams. In all the years I have watched the Jazz draft, they have made four first round picks that pissed me off: Thurl Bailey, Jose Ortiz, Raul Lopez, and Morris Almond. Bailey worked out, but I wanted Clyde Drexler. That's it. Sure, there have been others I cringed on (Borchardt) and many I would have gone in a different direction, but overall, I have rarely been pissed.

happy birthday Honz! The best thing about Gordon Hayward is how much is looked like his college coach. He probably looks a bit like you, too! Is that why you like him so much?

i think we should try to play a game and see how many words we can make from the letters in his name: G O R D O N H A Y W A R D

no really, I like him, and he had quite a decent tournament. Too bad they didn't win, I was pulling for Butler!

No, I've never said that. I just think that he is a baller without elite physical tools...a lot like Stockton.

Isn't this a pretty good description of our whole team? Hard nosed, smart, "plays the game right" players. These type of players will not help us against the elite teams. This guy will not replace Kyle Korver.

Year in, year out, the Jazz beat "elite teams" with just those type of guys. Not every time in the playoffs, mebbe, but, still.....

I mean, like, really, what is it with alla yawl whiners, eh? The Jazz finish tied for the 3rd best record in the Western Conference this year, just 1 game behind Dallas, but they can't beat LA without two of their starters, so now they just suck and need to blow up the team, fire the coachin staff, and start playin "random basketball," that the idea, is it?

My ideas have bounced all over the place but the only right one imo to put us over the top, assuming management gives a damn about that, and secure Deron long-term, which again I hope management would give a damn about because if they don't good luck selling as many tickets, is to throw everything and the kitchen sink at Minny or Sacramento to try to move up to get Cousins.

It may take the #9, Tomic, the Memphis pick, two future 1st rounders and maybe even more (Millsap? though he'd be redundant) but hell, ****ing do it. Enough with crap shoots and crossing our fingers for marginal starters or less. Go for the home run. We probably won't have another shot like this (i.e., a chance at a top 5 pick) 'til Deron leaves or retires. It's now or never mother ****ers.

Mix in a period, you novel writing wannabe.

I would love to see the Jazz trade up and take a chance on Cousins, but does anyone thing the Jazz would even consider doing that since they've always been character first, talent second.

Just like John Stockton couldn't cut it physically in the NBA. Seriously, get a clue bro.

Lol, comparing Gordon Wayward to one of the greatest passers, defenders, ball theifs, tough nosed players of all time. Embarrassing.
