Holy mother of... Frank is good. And he's doing it in their 2 most important games of the tournament. I want to apologize to Frank for ever comparing him to Exum. Exum can play for 20 more years and he's never going to hit as many clutch step back 3s as Frank did today.
 
You know how player usually throw their coach in the air in celebration? Yep. They are throwing Frank in the air, not the coach. Seems like his teammates love him, too.

This is the U19 though, Exum dominated that as well, it's high school. Exum was never mocked lower than 6 at any point by DX. Some of the brainier stat guys like Pelton who make a living projecting these various levels of stats to the pros said he would take Exum at #1. So who is was the better prospect? Exum.

Exum was a great youth player and I was super high on him and I've been one of his biggest defenders on this board, but his handle and his shot were never good(and I expected he will improve but he has not progressed at all in those areas). He relied on quickness to beat people off the dribble and draw fouls and we've seen this just doesn't cut it in the league. I'd trade a bit of Exum's quickness for a lot more skill and shooting. With his shooting mechanic(his shot is a set shot), I don't EVER see him being able to shoot off the dribble consistently. Frank pulls up without a problem, step backs... crossover into pullup... His handle is still shaky in traffic like Exum's, but I think I trust his skill and handle and shooting RIGHT NOW much more than I trust Exum's ... ever.

(I think my faith in Exum has been broken... believe me, I'd love nothing more than for him to prove me wrong. A couple of years ago I got my first ever NBA jersey and was an Exum one, I really believed in him, but for various of reasons(the injury being the main one) it seems like he's not anywhere close to where we expect he'd be at this point. Of course, I'm open to be proven wrong, but at this point I'd say - I will believe it when I see it... Does that make me a bad fan? :( )

Seems like Frank had the flu and was playing while not feeling well to begin the tournament. That would explain his pedestrian start and explosive finish.

Arnoldas Kulboka(SF/SG) at 30, - Stash possibility

I don't think Williams will be there at 22. DX hasn't updated in a long time but darft already has him at 12. Really hard to find footage on him if you don't have access to watch the games but this one vid has surfaced.

He's a supreme athlete, He's like Stromile Swift but way more advanced/skilled.. he's actually more athletic than Marquese Chriss so I have little doubt he'll be out of range.

Really an ideal platoon partner with Lyles, I can't stress that enough. Even though he's 6'9" he'll easily be able to function as a backup C too. Cheesy but true - Williams would be the Thunder and Lyles the Lightning.

I first saw him 2 summers ago when he was closer to 6'7" and he was jumping out of the gym and appeared to have a near 9' standing reach.



You're probably right though, it's unlikely he'll be in that range. There's alternatives but I suspect none with a ceiling quike like Williams. He could still be growing too.

-Cameron Oliver(Nevada So.) is an interesting alternative. He'd look GREAT next to Rudy IMO, he's built like Millsap but he's got much more bounce which really helps him block shots at a good rate and throw down nasty dunks. (also shooting in the mid 40's from 3 on nice volume this season)

-Chimezie Metu(USC So.) is also an interesting alternative. He's not the shooter the other 2 are but he's 6'11" long and really exceptionally athletic(and fluid), and I think would look great next to/backing up Gobert eventually.

I don't mean Metu or Oliver as a replacement for the Jazz pick in the early 20's btw, they're more in the Warriors pick early 2nd rd range.

Felipe Dos Anjos with the 23rd pick! He can be stashed but I'd try to get him in the D-League.

Jacob Evans on Cinci is legit. 3 to take it to OT. 40+" vert 6'6" long armed wing tough defender. he can pass and is shooting like 43% from 3 on 5 attempts per.

Exum didn't dominate U19. He was pretty good. But your point is still well taken. It is HS. You have to be wary. And if you are going to take a guy based on HS, yeah he really better be dominant. Not 17 ppg on 44% shooting or whatever Exum did.

He averaged like 26 and 5.

Note: Exum averaged 25.5 points and 4.8 assists in the next four games after his encounter with Team USA, almost single handedly willing his team to the semi-finals and an eventual fourth place finish. These were essentially the last competitive games Exum played in before his eventual NBA debut next season, and thus a substantial part of his evaluation as a NBA prospect.

I was wrong on the above, there are all of his game, which amount to 18 ppg. But his averages took a hit because he played under 20 in 3 games. Any game where he got minutes he dominated.
