What's new

Jimmy Butler

I definitely feel that, but Utah is pretty blue-collar/high effort/defensive focus, so I think Butler's personality could work w/ Snyder and Rudy.

I think there is more to it... think CP3 but more grating. The way he used to boss dudes around wore on people... add in the personality quirks and I think it might be really negative.

It’s more than that too... it’s the one year deal so now we do things to make Jimmy happy and our reward is him signing a 5/190M deal that will almost certainly become a millstone in the last couple years and if he sustains an injury in year 1 or 2 it’s a killer.

The Jazz would go to the WCF if they have Butler. Yes, he is a jerk. Karl Malone was a jerk. Rudy Gobert, on a lesser level, can be a jerk to those who don't play defense. He is, however, loyal to his coach where-ever he has played.

Per the espn article...

He is enamored with playing a central role in a big market.... Lakers are less appealing because of Lebron.

Yeah Imma pass. I think he wants to be the dude in a big market and doesn't want someone to outshine him. He gonna be Carmelo 2.0.

There is a difference. Rudy is competitive but does all the things that help a team win that don't get a ton of visibility or credit. Butler has some of that, but I think his "jerk" mixed with his weird personality and the fact he is more outspoken could be bad. He's not the kind of guy I'd gamble assets and culture on a one year experiment. He'd have no reason to comply and be all in. Rudy is 100% all in... he wants to be here. Jimmy wants a big market... bring in an outspoken "jerk" who doesn't want to be here... I'm sure it will totally work out.

What I am willing to sacrifice to have Danny Ainge trade Hayward for Butler
Ainge is too smart to do the deal. He's basically getting a one year rental who is not good for their franchise long term. Besides resigning Kyrie, they need the extra cap space to resign Brown and Tatum in a couple of years. Horford and Hayward's deal will expire then, which'd be perfect

Rumor has it that Jimmy has insisted to be traded within one week and that the meeting with Thibs went horribly. He is tanking his trade value for the T-Wolves. If the Jazz Front Office has the stomach for it, Jimmy could be had for cheap.

Butler wants a trade to a team that plans to sign him to a five-year, maximum contract that could be worth $190 million in the summer, and his list could expand based upon the Timberwolves' and rival teams' willingness to negotiate a trade for him, league sources said.

5year max guys. And the dude will be 30 yrs of age next summer. That should've kept a lot of teams away. If we didn't resign Hill last summer, I dont see why we would go after Butler.

Butler is a beast. He has some diva in him nowadays, but what superstar doesn't? Look at Kawhi, for instance.

The Jazz go into the tax if they can get Butler. But...they become contenders if they can get him. Do a Paul George/OKC and get him!

Just reminded me... as big of a dick as Butler is being to Minny... Gordon was a bigger one to us. At least PG and Jimmy were forthright with their teams and they will get something in return.

Lmao. The only reason they were open was because they had beef and wanted out acting like babies.

The jazz were in good standing with Hayward, so he didn’t need to say anything and disrupt the locker room and chemistry of the team.

Wouldn't signing Butler mean we would have to renounce Favs and Rubio? I'd rather trade for him than sign him next offseason

Seems like a moot point though. He wants to make max money and be the guy on a bad team. I don't think he'd be all in if we traded for him. So, I'm out.

p.s. I HOPE he goes to new york, can't wait until butler destroys that entire locker room, I can see him and enes traffic cone kanter clashing big time.

good stuff.
This gives a bad name to traffic cones. At least they actually re-direct traffic a little.
