Donovan refuses to say whether or not he wants to be in Utah moving forward

I think the Jazz did an amazing and unexpected job getting Bojan. Adding him to the Rubio, Jae and rest of the guys would have been brilliant and bold by itself. There was no need to have to do the Conley deal. We got the stretch 4 we needed and could have evolved from there.

Instead, we lost Favors, Crowder, Grayson and a 1st all just to upgrade Rubio. It was so stupid.

Conley was an issue. Messing around with matching Hayward was an issue (he may have remained healthy if he was still here). Hayward is a good defender and athletic. I'm disappointed he didn't stay. It would have been better for him and the team. I think it would have kept Donovan a bit more grounded too.

He may have left no matter what, but we'll never know.

The issue was honestly rolling with Favs and Rubio too long and not picking one or the other to move to add shooting and find balance.

Conley was the best gamble available... we still could have recovered or made it work... but we really needed more patience for the perfect big deal to setup and more urgency to make changes around the fringes. We also needed to hit on some picks.

I also think we could have easily flipped Conley for CP before the AS break when he was in OKC. We likely have to add a pick (we did anyway). It would have changed things dramatically.

I did like Rubio and Crowder. Grayson I was back and forth on.
I could be wrong, but I thought there were rumors that Bojan came because of Conley. It could have been someone else, but without fact checking I thought it was him that wouldn't have come here but Conley said something.?

Yes, when the Conley trade happened It took me back to Kirilenko's albatross contract and what it did to us. I don't dislike Conley, but he doesn't give us $30 mil worth of wins per year.
Hindsight is 20/20. At the time of the trade I was glad they at least tried to get something going, split with worried about how much money it would cost us.

That ship has sailed. Here's to unreasonably hoping somehow the FO makes some moves that makes our team better and that our coach and players mesh and work well together.
I guess that's my part of being a fan, despite all the odds, I still hold out hope every year.
*shrug

We also lost Korver in that deal.

Just total malpractice in this reporting by the SLC media during that exchange. I respect guys like Andy and Eric, even if Eric forced me to unfollow him on twitter for some damn reason (that's a thing, you can remove someone from following you, even though they can see and interact with your tweets).

But the lack of added context, especially after Mitchell said he wanted to come back, is just awful optics. Adding the first response makes the second far more understandable due to having already answering the question. But only reporting that second answer fuels needless, baseless speculation that makes me wonder if some in the media want to create a narrative here.
Tim asked the question a second time, they just reported what he said, and he addressed it by saying “ask me in a week”.

I recommend everyone listen to the Hoop Collective podcast with Tim on it. He breaks down how it happened. Tim gave him the opportunity to essentially say "I'm 10 toes down in Utah". Even if its a lie its the right response. The nebulous I want to win... I'll tell you in a week is telling. His dad is in PR... he knows the right answer (even if its a lie).

Donovan’s not stupid obviously. He said what he said because he has no commitment to this franchise, fanbase, or community and is just biding his time to get out of here. The team/franchise will not be successful in begging him to stay. They just need to let him go and get as much as they possibly can for him. Tony Jones did interrupt his original response to Sarah, which sure was “yeah”, but when you watch the video it’s about the weakest “yeah” you’ll ever get.

Mitchell already answered the question. To push for a further answer and clarification on a pretty emphatic response to Sarah's question where he says yes is almost as dumb as just focusing on the second answer and ignoring the first.

This is typical media gotcha questioning where they hound a point that's already been made in the hopes your emotional guard will fall and you'll give a different answer or say something that can be blown out of proportion. I mean, I guess I can't fault Tim for asking it because he knows dumb ****s will eat that **** up if he gets an even slightly-ier different answer.

And surprise, the dumb ****s ate it up and ran with it.

Thank you for the video. It's interesting how different people see the same interview differently. I did not get the same thing from Mitchell's answers that Tony Jones got, and I certainly don't see what you seem to be seeing. He comes across as weary during the whole interview, not just responding to Sarah Todd.

He said if they asked him about it in a week, he might have some sort of answer.

What did Tony get out of it? I must have missed whatever he said. Tony reported the on the Jazz part they don't want to trade Donovan, Tony has never said Donovan doesn't want to be traded.

Bill O'Reilly just hit it on the head with what he just said about Donovans answers. He said he finally hit a rough patch, he's a nice player, but from those answers thats not how you lead a franchise or a team. He said the easy and obvious answer to those questions is "yes I want to be here, you signed the contract, and its a big contract". He's 100% right, that's not how a stable franchise leader answers that question, referenced to go watch Jokic's postgame after being eliminated where he says that he is fully committed to Denver and making it work there and he is going to sign his super max contract. Donovan is not a leader, at all. (This is me now not what Bill said)--His agency was masterful at PR for a couple years but that curtain has fallen down. Like come on dude, you've been given whatever you've wanted by the Jazz. You were drafted to a playoff team and made them every year of your career. Are you really this soft mentally? Reading MacMahon's piece from today they've absolutely babied the douche and he's still a pouting, whining, little child.

Which is about the worst, most cowardice, ******** answer he could have given. I don't care if the dude who didn't play any defense this series is sad we lost. Go out and be the $30 million a year leader you're being paid to be. He's soft as **** and an entitled baby. Didn't want to be here? Shouldn't have signed the contract.

I actually love that Tim pressed him on it. Tim even said "you can say it's the media, but these things aren't coming out of thin air". It's not a hard question to answer, and he answered it about as embarrassingly and horribly as he could of. Man signed a $160 million contract that he's in the 1st year of, played no defense, gave little effort this series, then comes out and does this garbage. Get the loser off this team.

Dude you legit only post when it’s a thread about Donovan leaving. You’re obsessed it is really not healthy.

The man went and cried in the locker room after giving minimal effort the entire series lmao. He wants everything handed to him.

I'd support both Rudy and DM exiting just because the thought of a new birth for this team flush with picks and maybe a young player or two excites me, but I'll just trust that Smith will let Ainge do what he wants vs. act as a sith lord.

Look... what agency is he with? What agency has a huge influence with the Knicks? World Wide Wes was at game 1 in Dallas... The Jazz are dumb if they ignore all this **** and just try to beg him to stay. He's not Lebron, KD, or Giannis... if he wants out believe him. Don't bend everything to make him happy... its a recipe for disaster.
