Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

What? 6-3 for a pg is good length. He also is one of the better defenders on the team in man on man. He’s nothing close to a suspect defender, and he should’ve played ahead of Forrest. Look, Forrest does some things well, but when one of your weaknesses is shooting, and he’s probably… arguably the worst shooting pg in the nba. Butler should’ve got minutes over Forrest.
I would have played Butler over Forrest too, but Quin didn't. And it had nothing to do with Don. Quin just didn't like Butler for whatever reason. He thought Forrest was a better defender.

His defense must not have been better than Forrest in Quin's opinion. And Butler's defense to offense ratio must not have been strong enough to play over MC, DM, and JC.

I wish he would have played more.

Opponents shot 4.3% lower than their average when guarded by Butler and -1.4 lower when guarded by Forrest. Of course this doesn't tell the story of help defense, rotations, etc., but based on the way the rest of the team played this year rotations don't seem to matter and Rudy is the only one that has to help.

Its just a dumb way for Quin to think imo. Memphis was every bit the contender we were this year... they are one of the deepest teams in the league. They pulled minutes from Koncar, Anderson, and Melton to give 20 minutes a night to Zhaire Williams. By the playoffs he was a solid contributor and got a ton of experience. He is now way ahead of where he would have been if he had done the G League thing. It likely cost them a little on the court.

We couldn't give the 10-15 minutes a night to JB over Forrest... for what? Maybe a defense bump?

It feels as though we have just basically said that we are a contender so **** all development... ain't got time for that ****. That really isn't how smart teams work. Quin just can't be bothered with this type of stuff I guess.

Look at steals, blocks and rebounds per minute... with a year of playing time JB might be the better defender. JB is equal or better in all categories. He has good tools going back to college.

Forrest also isn't some mistake free guy... he has a high turnover rate for a guy who has a very low usage rate... he'd get picked clean just bringing the ball up quite a bit for a game manager type.

I think Forrest is slightly superior on defense but his build and lack of a jumper make people think he is better than he really is. JB can be the same level of defender and has big potential on offense... I don't understand how a coach can't factor that in.

Quin sucks, that's how.

Quin likes Forrest for the same reason he likes Royce. He brings some toughness and knows to stay in his lane. They also spent a year teaching him Quin's system.

lmao David Locke did a "season review" on Mitchell and defense didnt come up a single time.

This is typical of Locke. He recently spent like four entire episodes kissing every square inch of Danny Ainge's ***. He's a basically just a propogandist for the organization.

Something more. But everyone should always remember who cuts his check and gives him the platform for his podcast network to have taken off.

Stupid idea I had with BKN seeming on the brink with Kyrie/KD, and neither presumably wanting to come to Utah to play with Gobert. It'd need some picks to balance.

PHX In: KD
PHX Out: Ayton/Bridges/picks

BRK In: Donovan/Ayton/?salary/?Picks
BRK Out: KD/Kyrie

MIN In: Kyrie
MIN Out: Russell/McDaniels/?Picks

Utah In: Bridges/Russell/McDaniels/picks
Utah Out: Donovan/?salary (conley or bojan are easiest)

Retool as a defense first team with Bridges/McDaniels at the forward spots, Russell can run an offense though it wouldn't be near as spectacular as with Don at the helm.

Trickiest bit is valuing Kyrie, who knows how the heck much he'll be worth or not worth going forward.

Plus I get to pair Don/Ben in BKN, lol.

Those picks going to the Jazz had better be pretty damn amazing.

That really isn't bad for any one team. Brooklyn retools with Spida and Ayton. Makes lots of sense.

Phoenix go for the best player in the world and give up some great pieces.

The jazz give up key pieces but get a really promising identity.

None of these trades don't hurt for a team. Good trade proposal imho.

In this pod, Michael Scotto and Chris Fedor mention the Cavs are interested in Conley and Bogey, they say a Conley/LeVert swap might interest the Cavs.

Would hope the Jazz can do better than that.

Levert very talented, but always injured. This only makes sense if the Jazz's focus is saving money.

I guess it's a "Buy Low" kind of thing. You hope Levert can put together a full-season, but that seems pretty unlikely. You are likely just hurting your depth as you will be dealing with an injured Levert.

I'd rather just trade Conley for a couple of rotation players than trying to swing for the fence on Levert (who just leaves the following year if he actually plays well because the Jazz wouldnt be able to afford him).

But if the idea is to just get off the 2nd year so Ryan Smith can save money while taking one last shot this upcoming year, I guess it's a solid move if that's the goal.

I like LeVert, probably more based on his reputation here in Indiana as a good guy/hard worker/good attitude guy than watching him too much. If you can turn him in to more of a catch and shoot shooter vs pull up shooter, he could be more efficient. He can do a little of everything as far as pass a little, rebound a little, defend a very little.

I am not a LeVert guy at all, but hard to consider Conley a positive asset at this point. I would take that deal, try to fool some other team into taking LeVert.

Or just don't extend his deal and hope he plays well or is healthy?
