2022 NBA Draft Thread: We Going to Have a Pick! (lmao jk)

Do we want to do that stupid thread this year where people list their favorite player in the draft and make up a nickname?

Sleeping on Mark Williams… he gonna be better than Duren.
This is becoming a popular sentiment on draft boards - I had the same thought back in march and april, but now I'm starting to think duren might be underrated. keep in mind williams is a full two years older than duren. that's a big deal from a development standpoint. gun to my head, i probably still take williams, but i'm starting to think people are sleeping on duren a bit.

It feels incredibly hard to rank this year's draft. Too many prospects I should like but don't or have bigger reservations. It may surprise us who ends up being a bust or a steal.

I think everyone is sleeping on Walker Kessler. Someone in the late 1st or later is going to draft a 10+ year NBA player. He moves surprisingly well for someone of his immense size and his block numbers are INSANE.

I'm not super duper dug in here and its more of just a fun hot take. They will get picked within like 4 picks of each other.

I think the age thing with Duren gets a little too much weight. He's already a grown *** man... I think when you look at age and the upside attached to it a lot of that comes because of physical development. I'm not sure he will go a whole lot more.

Gun to my head I actually might take Duren... with Williams its all the shot blocking and how hard he plays his role... but also I think he might have some touch/shooting that is untapped. Like he might be a blend of Capela and Ayton and give you the best parts of both of their games.

He looks too much like Dennis Lindsey... I can't do it.

I actually think he could slip to the second because the hate is strong on bigs. I could see Memphis picking him maybe. I think he is a 10 year player though. I think he ends up in the Zubac level of centers... 20 minute a night guys that may be less playable in the playoffs.

Like if I had to bet who the 20 best players in this draft are I think he'd be one... but the upside of getting a wing or perimeter guy is too tantalizing to take him there. He's like if you got a surprise $5,000 and you put it in your retirement account in a nice indexed fund.... its smart... but NBA teams would rather throw $5k at the hot crypto and see what happens.

I also think the wing heaviness of this draft from teens to later first works against him.

I think Walker Kessler is a boring pick like Wendell Moore is a boring pick. But Moore at the wing is more likely to get some run and may have a bigger upside.

Which is why I really like this draft. One of my favorites in a long time (and why I am really down to just get as many picks as we can).

I know you’re bussin about Mark Williams and I’m inclined to follow your lead, but if I had to pick him 13 or could get Kessler at 30 I do the latter.

Depends on which guys are on the board at 13... if Sochan or Daniels were there by some miracle I would probably agree and take them. If its Eason and Dieng (haven't looked much at Dieng) I'd likely go Williams. Griffin IDK... I'm not a huge fan but I get it. Davis I can't figure out.

I love Griffin, lol, Jimmy Butler with a jumper.

Tony Snell with muscles... I kid. I think his jumper and body are great obvi. The injury stuff is a bit concerning. Last year he may have been slowed by the injury a bit or maybe he held back a bit.

I could see him being awesome too... I get it with him. At 12-14 I think he's a great gamble... at 6-7 I'd feel queasy.
