ENES KANTER: The third and last game of the preparation tourney will start in half an hour

Jonas seems pretty tall compared to the Gasol Brothers in that game..

While Kanter seems a bit short against his opponents in the 3 games thus far...

I thought they were similar height? Can anyone confirm?

No I am not Turkish and I by my view ( I watched all Kanter and Valanciunas friendly games) Kanter looked like scrub compared to Valanciunas. Jonas showed me way better hoops, even more energetic, beter 1on1 defence, way better help defence, was better at grabing boards because of his great hands and had very soft touch around basket. Sorry but everything I saw Jonas looked better. Maybe Kanter will pick it up but if he won't he will not survive in NBA. Besides one post move ( turnaround jumper) I didn't see any NBA moves. Even his rebounding, he was good boxing out but he had problems to grab them - many of them slipping, playing against more athletic bigs it could be a problem...

You are right. He won't survive in the NBA. He may as well hang it up. It's over...

I think it is important to note that Jonas looks better because he has been playing for the last year. He knows exactly what his role is and what moves he can do against this competition.

Kanter needs playing time to figure it all out.

Valanciunas is a focal point for Lithuania and Kanter is not for Turkey.

Guys, lets wait for him to put on a Jazz jersey and play in our system. There's a reason why these twigs like AK and Jonas look like magic and kareem internationally. There's a reason why Duncan, Boozer, Amare, and Dwight don't look nearly as good as these euros that chuck up 3's. Remember that one guy who was drafted by the Pacers a few years back? He was that white PG that stared down Lamar Odom?

Hell, if we just looked at international play, Carlos Arroyo would totally own Dwill, CP3, and Jason Kidd.

Lets keep in mind, that Kanter is a low post player. In order for him to be effective, he needs to have plays run for him. He needs to do something other than set screens out on the perimeter for average 3 point chuckers who have no clue on how to run the pick and roll.

Remember folks, Kanter plays with Hedo. Hedo doesn't even give the ball up to Dwight Howard. Why... Oh why, would he give the ball up to Kanter?

Kanter's going to be fine. Worse case: He's a rookie boozer.
A guy that can come in, bang, get some boards, and score points inside off Dharris, Burcks, and Hayward breaking down the defense. Before getting his raise, regardless...

No need to wait. We have watched three whole games now. Never mind that he just turned 19 in May, or that he hasn’t played competitive basketball in over a year, or that he’s playing for a guard dominated, disorganized Turkish team that doesn’t utilize its post players. Verlin and the rest know right now, with total certainty, that Kanter is a bust and anyone who thinks differently is just plain ignorant. There is just no way this guy can ever improve because no one ever gets better in the NBA after their 19th birthday. Once they turn 19 what you see is what you get. All hope is lost.

I'm glad everyone is realizing how Kanter is going to play his rookie year. People on here were making ridiculous predictions of him averaging 14 and 8.

Well, he was 3d pick in the draft, and from what we've been told he was dominating Cousins and was so much better than DeMarcus, it wasn't even close. Cousins went 5th and averaged 14 and 9 in 28 mins. If Kanter is so much better already, a year younger, picked higher, wouldn't it be reasonable to expect better numbers next year than what Cousins put up last year?

When did Kanter and Cousins go head to head? This would be really interesting if you had a link...

If anyone would know about this, it's PKM. So PKM, any of this true?

You're comparing Cousins' NBA stats from a season ago to Kanter?

Who's to say that Kanter won't put up even better stats? More likely, he won't. Why? Because he's sat out a year.. Probably will be two years... And Kanter has a few more bigs playing in front of him (Jefferson, Favors, Millsap, and perhaps Memo if he ever gets healthy again).

We don't know what Kanter will average next year. And it's pretty stupid to speculate, since a lot can change between now and then.

Hell, we don't even know if there will be an NBA season next year.

It's just plain ridiculous that people are basing their opinions on Kanter's NBA success on 3 pathetic international games.

If we all did what some of you dumbasses are doing, Carlos Arroyo would be receiving the max right now, while CP3, Duron, and Jason Kidd would be out of this league. Dwight, Tim Duncan, Amare, Boozer, and Bosh would all be out of jobs in favor of Luiz Scola, that other ugly argentine big, and AK47. Even Kobe Bryant looked bad for most of the Olympics. As I remember, Leondro Barbosa, who played with the Suns a few years ago, was the highest scoring player internationally in the Olympics. So Barboso > Kobe, right? Kobe sucks, right? Yet, he ended up having an NBA like season and winning the Finals MVP.

Folks.... Lets wait and see to judge. Especially since we're dealing with a big man here. International basketball doesn't utilize the bigs. Shaq in his prime would struggle to get double digit scoring in this league.

Also we are all underestimating the effects of a lost year of basketball. For all practical purposes, Kanter might as well be 18, and a very young 18 at that.

Yes, that was my original post. Sorry, no link. I was there when they played. I never said 'he dominated Cousins and it wasn't even close', though. I said Kanter got the better of Cousins and got him pretty frustrated. Neither of them are elite athletes, but both are very big, very strong, incredible rebounders, and above average shooters (both have NBA range). Kanter seemed to play much more under control, made much better decisions, moved with and without the ball better, and just seemed a tiny bit better at everything. I'm not saying he IS better, just saying that both were absolutely going at each other and everyone there came to the same conclusion .. that Enes was at least the slightly better player.

I also quoted Josh Harrellson;
Reporter: "You've played against some pretty tough competition in 4 years in the SEC. Of everyone you've played against, including your own teammates, who is the best you've gone up against?"
Josh: "Enes Kanter, definitely."
Reporter: "That includes Demarcus? You're saying Enes is better than Demarcus?"
Josh: "Demarcus is a really good player, one of the best. I'm not taking anything away from him, at all, but I've never played against anyone as strong and tough to play against as Enes."

Disclaimer: The above Josh quotes are not word for word, but very close .. just going by memory.

Very interesting. And thanks for the reply.

The fact that he seemed to get the better of Cousins when they played, and he dominated Jonas in the U19 Championships, really has me optimistic. I wouldn't change our pick if given the option.

Of course, I do expect a lot of growing pains his rookie year, whenever that is, due to sitting out over a year, but in terms of his long term development, I'm pretty confident in him.

Perfect expectations, imo.

My response was to someone who began speculating about the numbers Kanter will put up, saying it will be less than 14 and 8. Where were you then calling him stupid for speculation? Or is it only stupid to speculate when it disagrees with you?

It's just plain ridiculous that people are basing their opinions on Kanter's NBA success on 3 pathetic international games.

My mistake. Let's base our opinion on a HS Summit game and pathetic junior international games. Is that it?

If we all did what some of you dumbasses are doing, Carlos Arroyo would be receiving the max right now

Who said playing well sometimes on international arena deserves MAX? Have you lost your mind? People are concerned that 3d overall pick in NBA draft, who supposedly is better than 14 and 9 NBA player Cousins, played like crap against completely pathetic competition in all of 3 games he suited up. Stop insulting our intelligence with this Arroyo MAX BS. No one ever suggested doing all right against Euro competition means you are great player. We are merely saying that doing poorly again crap competition is a bit concerning. Get it?

Shaq in his prime would struggle to get double digit scoring in this league.

If it weren't apparent you were full of crap before, it sure is now. I mean Dirk and Gasol had no issues putting up great numbers against top Euro competition at young age, well before their prime. You are saying Shaq, who starred in NBA out of the gate, would? Ironically, you had enough nerve to call anyone else on this board stupid.
