what is valancuinas wing span?
The block on AK was off glass, a goaltend in the NBA, but he still came over to help pretty quick.

Kanter (draft express) and Jonas' (nbadraft.net) measurementsJonas seems pretty tall compared to the Gasol Brothers in that game..
While Kanter seems a bit short against his opponents in the 3 games thus far...
I thought they were similar height? Can anyone confirm?
No I am not Turkish and I by my view ( I watched all Kanter and Valanciunas friendly games) Kanter looked like scrub compared to Valanciunas. Jonas showed me way better hoops, even more energetic, beter 1on1 defence, way better help defence, was better at grabing boards because of his great hands and had very soft touch around basket. Sorry but everything I saw Jonas looked better. Maybe Kanter will pick it up but if he won't he will not survive in NBA. Besides one post move ( turnaround jumper) I didn't see any NBA moves. Even his rebounding, he was good boxing out but he had problems to grab them - many of them slipping, playing against more athletic bigs it could be a problem...
I think it is important to note that Jonas looks better because he has been playing for the last year. He knows exactly what his role is and what moves he can do against this competition.
Kanter needs playing time to figure it all out.
sigh...

Guys, lets wait for him to put on a Jazz jersey and play in our system.
I'm glad everyone is realizing how Kanter is going to play his rookie year. People on here were making ridiculous predictions of him averaging 14 and 8.
Well, he was 3d pick in the draft, and from what we've been told he was dominating Cousins and was so much better than DeMarcus, it wasn't even close.

Cousins went 5th and averaged 14 and 9 in 28 mins. If Kanter is so much better already, a year younger, picked higher, wouldn't it be reasonable to expect better numbers next year than what Cousins put up last year?

You're comparing Cousins' NBA stats from a season ago to Kanter?
Who's to say that Kanter won't put up even better stats? More likely, he won't. Why? Because he's sat out a year.. Probably will be two years... And Kanter has a few more bigs playing in front of him (Jefferson, Favors, Millsap, and perhaps Memo if he ever gets healthy again).
We don't know what Kanter will average next year. And it's pretty stupid to speculate, since a lot can change between now and then.
Hell, we don't even know if there will be an NBA season next year.
It's just plain ridiculous that people are basing their opinions on Kanter's NBA success on 3 pathetic international games.
If we all did what some of you dumbasses are doing, Carlos Arroyo would be receiving the max right now, while CP3, Duron, and Jason Kidd would be out of this league. Dwight, Tim Duncan, Amare, Boozer, and Bosh would all be out of jobs in favor of Luiz Scola, that other ugly argentine big, and AK47. Even Kobe Bryant looked bad for most of the Olympics. As I remember, Leondro Barbosa, who played with the Suns a few years ago, was the highest scoring player internationally in the Olympics. So Barboso > Kobe, right? Kobe sucks, right? Yet, he ended up having an NBA like season and winning the Finals MVP.
Folks.... Lets wait and see to judge. Especially since we're dealing with a big man here. International basketball doesn't utilize the bigs. Shaq in his prime would struggle to get double digit scoring in this league.
When did Kanter and Cousins go head to head? This would be really interesting if you had a link...
If anyone would know about this, it's PKM. So PKM, any of this true?
Link?
Yes, that was my original post. Sorry, no link. I was there when they played. I never said 'he dominated Cousins and it wasn't even close', though. I said Kanter got the better of Cousins and got him pretty frustrated. Neither of them are elite athletes, but both are very big, very strong, incredible rebounders, and above average shooters (both have NBA range). Kanter seemed to play much more under control, made much better decisions, moved with and without the ball better, and just seemed a tiny bit better at everything. I'm not saying he IS better, just saying that both were absolutely going at each other and everyone there came to the same conclusion .. that Enes was at least the slightly better player.
I also quoted Josh Harrellson;
Reporter: "You've played against some pretty tough competition in 4 years in the SEC. Of everyone you've played against, including your own teammates, who is the best you've gone up against?"
Josh: "Enes Kanter, definitely."
Reporter: "That includes Demarcus? You're saying Enes is better than Demarcus?"
Josh: "Demarcus is a really good player, one of the best. I'm not taking anything away from him, at all, but I've never played against anyone as strong and tough to play against as Enes."
Disclaimer: The above Josh quotes are not word for word, but very close .. just going by memory.
Very interesting. And thanks for the reply.
The fact that he seemed to get the better of Cousins when they played, and he dominated Jonas in the U19 Championships, really has me optimistic. I wouldn't change our pick if given the option.
Of course, I do expect a lot of growing pains his rookie year, whenever that is, due to sitting out over a year, but in terms of his long term development, I'm pretty confident in him.
