GLeague Chitt

In a tale of the Johnsons, the Spurs signed Stanley Johnson and waived Alize Johnson who I believe was in the Jazz veteran free agent camp this summer. In stories of Jazz alums this week JWF signed to play in China, Justin James signed to play in France and Saben Lee got a two way deal.

The JVs with a matinee win over the OKC GLeaguers. Potter had a strong game with 21 points (3-8 from 3). 13 rebounds, 1 block and a +19 in the box score. Jeenathan Williams got the start and responded being the leading scorer with 24 points, 6 assists, 3 blocks and 6-9 from 3. Rawlie Alkins had a strong game with 21 points and 6 assists. Juzang is still injured.

Trey Burke playing for the Kings GLeaguers had 19 points 4 assists and 5 boards and a +41 in the box score for the Kings GLeaguers vs the Clips GLeaguers.

Stars with two wins in a row. Bolmaro and Ochai looked really good, like first round draft picks. They both played impressive D tonight. Potter was solid and led the box score with a +28. Paris Bass the leading scorer and rebounder and Rawlie Alkins led in assists with 8. Frank Jackson and Jeenathan Williams also had solid games. I would like to see the Jazz give Potter some run at the back up 4.

Huge trade!!!!! Summer League and Stars player Darryl Morsell was traded to the Raptors GLeague team for "future considerations." He was averaging about 5 ppg for the Stars.

The future considerations turned out to be Christian Vital a 6'2"point guard from UConn who has a GLeague ring last season and was finals MVP in a late spring early summer league in Canada. This is absolutely huge!!!!!!

Stars with an epic collapse late in the 4th quarter to lose by 5 to the Wizards GLeague team. Juzang in his first game back had 18 points and looked good. Potter was with the Jazz getting a DNP/CD so was unavailable along with Ochai and Bolmaro. The main culprits in the late collapse were Tyler Cook, Paris Bass and Jeenathan Williams. It was a turnover, foul fest brickapalooza in the late going. Frank Jackson played well for the Stars and was the leading scorer. When the fun started the Stars were up by 9. For Infection Kris Dunn played for the WizJVs.

Stars with another rotten game in Vegas. Juzang had 28 points with 6-9 from 3 and was the Stars leading scorer. Tyler Cook had 20 points 15 boards for the Stars. No Potter, Bolmaro or Ochai for the Stars. The Stars were down by 10 after the first quarter and were never really closer after that losing by 10. Jared Butler played for the other team and did nothing notable. Frank Jackson and Paris Bass were dreadful although Bass may have gotten injured.

Stars with an 8 point loss in Mexico City while playing short handed. Paris Bass, Tyler Cook and Juzang did not suit up and they signed a big off the street, a guy that averaged about 8 ppg his senior year at Oregon State. Some interesting names for Mexico City Bruno our summer league guy, Kenneth Faried and Shabaz Napier. Potter had a double double and outplayed Bruno and had the best +- for the Stars. Potter was 3-6 from three. Frank Jackson looked really, really bad. The Stars did get it to one point with about a minute left so they were at least competitive. Jeenathan Williams looked good. The Stars played only 8 guys at 8,000 foot elevation and the guy they signed off the street was -16 in 16 minutes of PT.

Id like to see Potter given a chance. Its not like he can be much of a downgrade from Rudy Gay, and Simone and Ochai are not really 4s.

Stars lose again in an embarrassment to the Jazz organization. The Stars sat their five best players, played with seven players at 8,000 feet elevation and lost by 27 points. Stacy Davis with 29 points 14 boards and Jeenathan Williams with 28 points. Potter and Juzang sat. Why even have a GLeague team? Portland and Phoenix don't. The Jazz had no problem sitting guys last night so why not let them play here?

Here is an interesting transaction from the NBA's website: The Stars waived Paris Bass and replaced him with Chris Smith a 6'9" 215 pound forward out of UCLA who was ässigned" by the Utah Jazz. Smith was on a two way deal with the Pistons last season that ended when he tore his ACL. To be assigned to the Stars would indicate that he is on the regular roster of the Jazz. Are we going to see some player movement today?

Stars lose by 11 at home to Stockton. The Stars bench right now is just sad. Trey Burke led Stockton and was the best player on the floor. Bolmaro played and looked decent 11 points 6 assists. No Potter or Frank Jackson for the Stars. Tyler Cook 30 points 14 boards and Jeenathan Williams had 19 points for the Stars. Because of the weak bench the Stars aren't competitive right now at this level. They were down 3 to start the 4th quarter and soon found themselves down 20. Juzang had 16 points and I'm not sure if he is a prospect.

Stars beat Iowa by 16 points. Jeenathan Williams with 26 and Juzang with 24. Bolmaro with 16 points, 5 boards and 6 assists and looked like a first round draft pick. Rawlie Alkins with a double double. Potter played, came off the bench, was on a minutes restriction and still got 8 boards. Mudiay did not dress for Iowa. Frank Jackson did not play for the Stars.
