If it's Sexton + THT for Herro I think you definitely do it. I would think about throwing in a late first round pick as well, but depending on how high/low you are on those two I can see how that would be a no.

The extension rules are a blindspot for me too... I always have to check with the webs.
 
On NBA draft night last year there was a collective moan among the Boston Celtics brass right about the time the Miami Heat used the No. 13 pick to select Tyler Herro.

The Celtics were very much enamored with the 20-year-old leading up to last June’s draft.

Just bringing this back to the light. Ainge definitely like Herro during the draft process and he hasn’t done anything to make him feel otherwise since being in the league either.

Blazers have name dropped a lot this week. They are pushing to get this done and might have discussed rerouting contingencies on their own as well (hence the Suns and Jazz rumors).

Its why I think this has real legs. Our front office is also not super tight lipped like it was in the past... so I think when you see consistent messages you can kind of believe it. The talk of Sexton being on the market and interest in Herro has been fairly consistent... Ainge also like reuniting with his old flames and crushes.

the weird message about the Heat not being in on it is the puzzling thing. I think Portland is definitely shopping around. I wonder if they go shopping the pieces they think the Heat will give them then circle back to the Heat with their demands... wonder if that is a big brain strategy or getting the cart in front of the horse.

If they end up with Ayton they may threaten their tank a little... Scoot, Simons, Grant, Ayton isn't super abominable.

Agreed. It makes sense to work out kinks while making the Heat think they are on the clock if they are talking... but why would Woj then omit Heat from the talks?
 
So maybe this is Woj's MO... team tells him to throw some cold water on the talks... then hits em with a trade.
 
Heat don't really need to be in the talks. I'm sure they've made it clear what they are willing to do
