What's new

Jazz @ Pistons 5:30 MT Saturday

Can't stop the penetration, can't guard the three and can't grab a firm rebound. Ugly game, hopefully the Jazz somehow pull it out.

Lets put this in perspective...

The Jazz are losing to the Pistons. The Pistons. So much for Harris' defense...Stuckey lit him up. Sigh.

Come on guys...

Sap blew this one down at the end..he played well and then coughed it up over and over....horrible..

This is what happens when you have a 6'5 PF and a 6'10 Center that cant box out or defend the pick and roll. Very frustrating game!

Corbin needs to bring someone in to teach defense. the pick n roll D was really quite bad. the bigs get out of rebounding position because they always seem lost on D.

To defend our rebounding a little bit. The refs BLEW tonight. Pistons were jumping recklessly to get the rebounds with nothing being called. Millsap got whacked in the face on the one shot. Then Stuckey would drive, someone would touch his shoe lace and the ref called it. We need to win these freaking games!

Favors has defended the pick n roll well. AJ cant defend it to save his life. Just watch him. He thinks he has the time to walk back to his guy. Someone needs to teach somebody in the Jazz organization how to defend the 3pt shot. Daye hit two 3's, Then down the stretch there wasnt anyone within 15ft of him for his last 3.

It's not about one guy dominating one of Jazz men. It's all about bench play and what I call "Price effect". Also, the Jazz, as a team, played flat out terrible, FAKE defense all night long. Do not care about how many blocks the Jazz recorded. Both of these teams played the other night and the Pistons sucks so bad. The Jazz cannot afford to relax after a well-deserved victory. THey cannot afford to lose these kind of games against lesser opponents. The Pistons were on the court just to hang out and they played recklessly, the Jazz accompanied to them with same kind of attitude on defensive end.

Normally, a team with about 60 percent FG shooting + 37 assists on +40 FGs (indicator of ball movement and execution). There is no other explanation to this stupid loss other than playing indifferent defense which is why Pistons are bad, and which was what the Jazz should not imitate from Pistons.

Detroit impressed me, definitely better than their record. Strong guards, great 3 point shooting, and a developing beast of a center in Monroe. If they offer Monroe for Favors right now I might do that.

All calls aside. We box out and we dominate the boards in this game. As bad as it was, we only lost the battle by two.
+1 on your defensive comments.

These are the new Pistons, and they're not that bad. They've got good 1st-round talent starting to figure things out. Their problem used to be that they had no bigs who could rebound. They seem to have made progress in that area with Greg Monroe. Pretty impressive. They also hit their threes tonight.

Still, the Jazz gave up too many points. To have three players score 20 pts. or more and still lose....that shouldn't happen.

If the Jazz can strengthen their interior 'D' it will make it easier to guard the wings. This is why it's still worth playing Fess some minutes.
