It's Time For a True Direction

Aaron Gordon would be great with us and would be part of our core 1000% so that's a bad example.

Or we could end up with Klay Thompson or Steph Curry or a team falls in love with someone in the top 8 and offers a god father offer for the pick like Boston offered Charlotte a few years ago.

Every way of acquiring all star talent is a low probability venture. You have a better chance at 8 than you do at 13... only a 10% chance of moving into the top 3 but better than a zero percent chance (basically).

I'm just hoping to see a real direction and us acquiring parts consistent with that direction. If tanking is part of that then great... if it is acquiring assets or young talent then fine.

Sure, Gordon would be a great fit, but is he worth a season of tanking? Everyone wants a higher pick, but it's at a cost. I don't think the gamble is worth it.

His development doesn't just hit pause because he's injured, it changes his outlook as he's not on the floor developing his game. There's no way it doesn't stunt him, and I know some will scoff at this, but I just think the way he moves is a problem. He plays in this weird curled posture and if I'm playing doctor, I think it reveals something not good.

He's 6'6" and this weird posture you speak of is him getting low to the court to be able to defend guards off the dribble. This is why he's an above average defender imo. Not many people in the world can move like Exum at 6'6" - or any height for that matter.

What is the real cost? We are headed for a frustrating season that ends with us playing guys that won't be here next year and getting the 12-14 pick.. maybe we make the playoffs, but I don't see that right now.

Again would just like us to either actually clear cap space to sign someone... take on salary for next year with our expirings while collecting assets... We don't have to go Philly tank style but living in the middle and touting fake flexibility (we don't have cap space unless we move AB, and a couple of the team option guys).

Also, this isn't me complaining about DL... I think he's been over a barrel... just hoping we can pivot in the next 90 days and see his clear vision.

Guys, tanking isn't guaranteed to work, so we should just not try.

Yep, I hope Gobert ends up being out 10 weeks or so. And we trade Favors for Crowder. And Rubio and filler to Denver for their 1st and Faried. And Hood (**** him) to someone for a super late 1st or early 2nd or two 2nds. And Burks for cigarette butts.

Gut this ****er.

And that direction is south!

Suck **** for Doncic!

Agreed. It's time to tank. This team was not good enough to contend for anything but the 8th spot and a 1st round sweep before Gobert was injured. We need to commit to a rebuild right now and that starts by making sure we net ourselves a top 10 pick at least as well as trading players that we don't see in our future.

The Jazz would never do that though cause it's immoral.

Top 10 pick shouldn't be tough. We need to ensure a top 6-7 pick. At worst.

The type of deals I'd try to do... the idea behind these is help cap strapped teams now and get assets... we participate in 2019 FA because all our contracts outside of Rudy, Ingles, and DM would be off the books...

1- Joe Jesus to Denver for Faried and a protected #1... they in win now mode and need to clear salary next year or they are in trouble. They have 1000 PFs and Faried seems like the guy they want to be rid of. I would do a similar deal for Arthur or whoever they have that has two years and they want to be rid of.

2- Favs to Milwaukee for Teletovic and DJ Wilson. Jazz were rumored to like Wilson... Milwaukee can clear some space and address a position of need. They likely move salary to keep Jabari.

3- Hood and Neto or Royce to NO for Ajinca and their #1 pick.

4- Thabo and maybe Udoh to Cleveland for Frye and their #1 pick in 2018.

Not saying all or any of these deals, but deals like these... not obvious tanking... building the asset base and working towards 2019 cap space because that is when it is most likely we'd have some and would know better what we need.

We could still trade for a Kevin Love type if they became available because we'd have expiring contracts and firsts to make deals work... we could still use the MLE if a FA was underpriced and we wanted to sign them.

We'd still have the flexibility we crave and we'd be picking up assets that can help us along the way.

We all know if the Jazz tanked they would get the 4th pick and probably draft Bridges, which would be a super underwhelming tank job.

Especially since Jacob Evans >>> Miles Bridges, but he doesnt have the Mich St hype.

And its not that I want to build a super contender... that would be nice, but a perennial playoff second round team with a chance for more would be better than where we are headed.

We need more bites at the apple. No more half rebuilds.

1) No way I take on Faried for a protected 1st (unless it's only like top 6-7 protected).
2) Maybe.
3) NO doesn't have a 1st iirc. They traded it to the Kings for Cousins.
4) Not sure if the Cavs a 1st either. I think they do but I'm not sure.

I think we could tank to about the 4th-6th spots. No way we'd be worse than the Bulls, probably Hawks, or Kings. The Nets, Mavs, Suns, Lakers could all be better than us if we tank right. So if we could get to the 4th or 5th spot as far as lottery balls, I like our chances for a top 3 pick.

1- Yeah it'd be like top 10 or something
3- They can trade their first that rule only looks forward not backward
4- they can trade their pick because they have the BKN pick and it is unprotected...

I like that core a lot. **** would be fun as hell to watch and get me six to midnight.

3-Huh?
4-That doesn't mean they actually own their own 1st. Do they for sure?

I think we'd be 6-9 depending on how long we hold Rudy out. We just make sure he is 110% before he comes back and he has to pass all the balance beam tests.
