What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

PG_AB kinda sold me on Chimezie Metu. I wish he'd enter the draft. I like him better than Skal, and I liked Skal last year at #12.

If OG Anunoby falls, I'm on board (pending medical clearance). Ike Anigbogu doesn't have to do much to have an impact in the league. He can just stay healthy and be a rich man's Festus Ezeli worst case.

I'm okay with Leaf/Lydon, Kennard, DJ Wilson (who I think might be a more athletic and fluid Trey Lyles, which says what I don't know), and one of these athletic 6'4" 2-guards who can shoot in the 2nd round.

Metu would showcase well in Utah. his footspeed and ability to cover ground would seem like something added to the equation. He's every bit as explosive as Bolomboy but far more nimble and 3years younger.

Why do people like Jarrett Allen ahead of Patton?

It's not set in stone yet. Jarrett Allen is almost a full year younger.

The reasons why people like Jarrett Allen can be summed up in just a few plays. Him grabbing boards. blocking shots and doing things like this

It's going to be interesting to see how these bigs -- Allen, Patton, Collins (Wake Forest) and Anigbogu measure out physically and athletically. Some of them are very close. It's going to be beauty in the eye of the beholder. Bam Adebayo too.

It's exciting to see a guy who can block shots and run rim to rim (see Lucas 'Bebe' Nogueira), but that doesn't happen in games as much as having to start out on the floor, handle the ball, make reads, attack with more than one move, make a pass, catch in traffic, etc., and Allen seems to be the most raw of the group in those respects.

Mitchell > Kennard

I have watched a lot of Mitchell today and I am not sold on him. He is a high usage type of player and the jazz don't need a high usage player on their roster right now. I would take Kennard just because he is a better fit. I know those are dangerous words but this is not like drafting Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. This is a mid 20s pick and things are a lot muddier.

A few of them we aren't gonna learn much from in measurements. I can probably peg Anigbogu's measurements and testing #'s right now.

Jarrett Allen too.

Players like Patton, Zach and John Collins, TJ Leaf, and Cam Oliver seem to have much more on the line.

Is Allen considered the best defensive big?

I'm not sold either. 2-1 assist to turnover ratio. Not a great playmaker. He seems like an undersized two guard.
