What's new

Would you trade ...

I don't think Detroit wants to dump Jackson. Like Stan Van Gundy said, he just wants to add to the current roster. A major part of the current roster is Jackson when he is healthy.

We can't forget that Rubio was worth a first rounder six months ago. Yes, he has struggled with us, but many teams still probably feel that he could be a very good player for them especially coming off the bench. In Detroit's situation, he's worth a lot because Jackson is out during their push to make the playoffs. Since they are in win now mode, Rubio has a lot of value for them.

Rubio has not worked for us but that doesn't mean he doesn't have value elsewhere.

Yeah, I also doubt they want to swap Rubio for Jackson. I know he is out know but Rubio is not an upgrade. I know Jackson is out until the all-star break but i doubt they are willing to downgrade their PG just to get a month of a PG. I also doubt, like you said, Jazz want to get a meh PG that has that long of a contract.
SVG has been shopping Jackson since last year. He is really injury prone, and I don't think they get along. I don't think Jackson has a good reputation around the league. He is just a really average starting PG who isnt great at anything and is a bit overpaid while being injury prone.

No, it's known fact SVG has been trying to trade Jackson for the last year and a half.

OG Anunoby

For

Hood

Jazz get younger and more athletic. Raptors get a player to help them make a run this year and more shooting that they need now.

Honestly I dont think either team would make this trade but I think it would be good for both. Hood could strive as the third scoring option.

Oh, no way Raptors would do that. They couldn't afford Hood next year. That rookie contract is really important to the Raptors. They are going to be about 10 million dollars over the cap next year after waiving dudes like Bruno and Bebe.

Their ownership group has said recently:
“We’re not afraid of the luxury tax at the right time,” said Leiweke. “These owners are in it to win.”

Maybe more would have to be moved. Powell or Ibaka might have to get moved. Although I doubt Jazz would swap Ibaka for Favors. That is a bad contract along with the above trade.

If we took Asik as a salary dump for Burks, could we snag their pick and Frank Jackson?

I don't think so infection, but I like where your head is. Maybe this sweetens it enough:

Favors and Burks to NOLA
Ajinca, Cunningham,and NOLA 2018 1st to Bulls
Mirotic, Asik, and Jackson to Jazz
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y93g7r27

New Orleans gets 2 players for their playoff run and dump Asik and Ajinca

Bulls get a first and only have Ajinca's $5 next year to pay.

Jazz get Mirotic and Jackson but have to pay Asik next year.

Me when Lopo proposes a trade on JFC

Cy, seriously, why are you such an unhappy, pain in the ***?

Every single trade I propose has a logic to them. If you don't agree, well tough cookies. Will the other team or the Jazz even bite on the trade? Most times no because there is too much pride involved and trades are more difficult to pull off than the trade machine makes it appear. Every trade I propose is based off of credible sources or straight from a GM, coach, etc. And every trade idea comes as the initial offer. An initial offer is rarely ever the one agreed upon. It's called compromise.

So if you don't like a trade idea, swallow your extremely small sense of pride and just agree with it or disagree with it. Taking shots will not make you any bigger or me upset. I'm going to do what I do which is stay positive and look for solutions.

On to the next idea...

I am not buying that pride is the reason for trades not happening. Doesn't resonate at all and over simplifies a very complex process. And you do use the extremely limited knowledge than fans can glean but at least 90% of what goes on happens behind the curtain so like everyone else you have to make a lot of assumptions. Add to that the fact that the bits and pieces we hear in public are often said for all kinds of reasons and maneuvering. You work the trade issue with more zeal than anyone else which is fine but you make so many assumptions in doing so that challenging the logic will always happen.

You're right. There is so much we don't know or see. All my ideas are based on speculation and a guess on what might be good for all teams involved. Some guys spend time on here saying a player shouldn't play or should do this or be better at that. I just choose to spend my time fixing multiple teams instead of players. But I do it understanding that my trades are extremely hopeful.

For those few who care:

Locke did admit this morning that it was Fournier who he had in mind when hinting about trying to figure out how to pick up a player in the $17-20 M range.

He'd fit well, but I don't think we'd give up what Orlando wants for him. He would cost a 1st, expirings, and maybe Hood.

There's no way we'd go anywhere close to that. I think the premise of the idea is that Orlando is eager to move off his contract in order to clear the way to re-sign Aaron Gordon. If they're not motivated, then there's no point in even thinking about him.

I’d probably keep Hood, but wouldn’t mind a semi-heavily protected first going out for him. Fournier would make a decent Robin to Spida’s Batman. . . and at about half of what we would’ve paid Hayward for the same role. Maybe the Jazz staff works some magic and he makes a big jump in Utah as a 2nd or 3rd option.

Gobert, Mitchell, Fournier, Jingles, Hood, Exum and maybe Rubio is a solid foundation to build around. Add Mirotic to that too. . .
