ENES KANTER: The third and last game of the preparation tourney will start in half an hour

Didn't Kanter and Jonas play in the U19 league or something once? And wasn't Kanter the clear-cut better of the two? I remember seeing both of their stats in their head to head match ups and Kanter pretty much dominated him. Does anyone have those stats?

K I believe in the 2009 FIBA U18 Championships Kanter averaged 18.6ppg/16.4rpg and Jonas averaged 19.0ppg/10.6rpg.

Also, when they faced each other in the Semi-Finals, Kanter had 35 points/19 rebounds, where as Jonas had 14 points/5 rebounds.

Obviously we can't say that Kanter has 100% chance of being better than Jonas in the long run from this, but I'd say it's a good sign. Basically this just seemed like a good time to recall these stats with all the "we should have drafted Jonas" talk.

i agree with you, enes has not played ball for 13 monthes, and what i have seen so far, turkish NT is the worst place to start.we do not play like this normaly.the new coach really sucks,i dont even know what kind of a game plan we had on those 3 games, plus we have many new players who hasnt played together.

Anyone who thought that Kanter had great lift was always misinformed.

Defensively I can envision him learning how to play defense like a quicker Kendrick Perkins. Length isn't everything. Being quick, smart and strong can be really effective too. Offensively I still believe that his jumper is going to be a consistent weapon for him. The post part of his game comes along in time.

Defensively I hope that we see Kanter playing the Kendrick Perkins role with Favors doing his best Garnett impression.

Your stats are still valid but Jonas I believe was a year younger. In any case Kanter out weighed Jonas by more then than now.

What I saw from Kanter defensively had me encouraged. Many times he was able to slow his man down to the point that if he had a Favors or an athletic weak side shot blocker on the court his man would really struggle to score. He has enough quickness to be effective IMO.

If Kanter turns into a slow your man down defensive player, ie Kendrick Perkins and has a reliable offensive game that is a solid win for the #3 pick in this years draft.

Turkey team has already cut to 12 spots or there are more players left?

Right now, Valanciunas looks like a PF at the pro level. He doesn't have much of a back-to-basket game and isn't heavy enough to establish deep position against bigger players. He's got long strides and long arms though. He's got good touch around the hoop. He also has a good motor. He seems focused, his movement is pretty efficient, and he seems to be improving. He's learning how to use his length. He gets good position quite often by outrunning everyone down court. He could be an ideal center on a fast-break team.

If I had to predict, I would say Kanter will average more rebounds, but it's tough to tell who will be the better go-to player on offense. Valanciunas might also be better defensively given his length and motor. He's showing Tyson Chandler potential on both ends.

JV got most of his points against the second unit or on fouls. I didn't see him put a great move on one of the Gasols. Mostly he dives into the lane and draws contact with his quickness.
