Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Call a spade a spade, but rebounding numbers are some of the most contextual numbers there are and the people looking to fade Tre aren't providing any additional context outside of raw per game #s

Not really more contextual than anything else. Fact is, he's at the very bottom and we can make these excuses for anyone. Tre is not a special snowflake where context only applies to him and nobody else. Every time you try to contextualize something about Tre that doesn't paint him in a perfect light, it just doesn't matter to the stans.

There is no other player for which we spend more time making excuses for. And I'll say it again, he doesn't need it! He's a great prospect despite his flaws.

Maybe Tre has the mentality It's not my job to rebound It's my job to score
If so he needs to change that
His defensive rebounding rate is about as average you get for a guard. The issue is .3 offensive rebounds per game. Usually that means it was a team philosophy.

This is what I'm talking about. It's not average at all. You can count the number of players whose defensive rebounding rate is lower than in this draft class his with one hand. How is that average?

It isn't just the rebounding... its the rebounding combined with the low stocks that gives the concerns. He seems to have size and athleticism to do more but isn't... make of that what you want. All the guys have warts... I promise its okay to call a wart a wart.

It's pretty easy to see that Tre's stats are not actually great when Pelton ranks him (based on his stats) as a fringe first round pick.

It's his ability to shoot an elite percentage off every NBA action vs. his poor statistical indicators.

100%. His shotmaking might just be good enough to overcome those warts. If these warts aren't actually warts, he should go 1 or 2.

Krysten Peek compared Jeremiah Fears to Trae Young.

.... What

Fears is nowhere close to Trae as a shooter or passer.
Ummmmm excuse me mr. expert but I didn't see you in the gym so how can you know anything. They are basically the same person once you seem them up close... in person. Access over everything.

-Krysten Peek (probably)

And he might deserve that. Just not exactly my cup of tea as far as prospects go. But even though he’s not the prospect I’m drawn to I’ll still have him really high, which is a testament to just how good of a shooter/scorer he is.
Good post.

He has his warts for sure. His rebounding, assists, and defense could be better for sure. To me I think outside of his rebounding the other two are a bit overblown.

To me his rim frequency and efficiency would need to increase to really become a primary type of scorer.

They are all overblown.

The stocks is the only thing I really agree with. Due to low stocks I don't see Tre being a standout defender, but no reason he shouldn't be at least average.

From what I saw, it looked like coaches wanted all the guards on the team transitioning down the court quickly on both offense and defense and not to crash the boards at all. Maybe it wasn't his choice.
