    Jazz History: Did you know

This isn't quite accurate. In 1975 the NBA held the supplemental draft for players who had been drafting into the ABA before they were ever eligible for the NBA draft. The NO Jazz selected Moses Malone, and the cost was the 1977 first round pick. A year later the ABA and NBA merged, and the...

    No to Jimmer...

This is worded very strangely. "not known to be among that group" = we don't know if they are or not. "known not to be among that group" = we know who all six teams are and the Jazz aren't one of them.

    Hayward in Crunch Time

I hear you, but I'm giving him a slight pass this time. He had been on the bench for ages due to foul trouble while guarding Durrant, so there's that. IDK if the right answer was to bring him back earlier, not bring him back at all all, or do exactly what they did. I did joke that he should...

Las Vegas' Take on the Jazz

Forgot to add in the Vegas projection on the Warriors. They have the over/under at 51.5 wins, which would give them (and the Jazz) the #22 pick. FWIW it was originally at 49.5 and has come up two games, so there must have been a lot of money going on the over.

Las Vegas' Take on the Jazz

    Based on the Vegas over/under figures, the lottery teams and pre-lottery order will be: 1: Philadephia 16.5 wins 2: Phoenix 19.5 3: Orlando 23 4: Utah 25 5: Charlotte 27 6: Boston 28 7: Milwaukee 29.5 8: Sacramento 32 9: LA Lakers 34.5 10: Toronto 37.5 11: Portland 39 12: Cleveland...

    Phoenix Tank

Being in the 5th-8th worst range isn't so bad. The draft lottery has been held 15 times under the current format (30 teams, 1000 combinations, no teams prevented from winning lottery). * 11 times at least one pick went to 5th-8th worst * 6 times one pick went 5th-8th worst * 5 times two picks...

    Tinsley activation?

Oh, he's active. The Jazz currently have only 10 healthy bodies for Wednesday night's game. Hopefully they do Tuesday's practice and Wednesday's shootaround with all players wrapped in bubble wrap.

    Phoenix Tank

No, I don't think it is. The only source I can locate is this: https://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474981961834 Not exactly inside information and not really a proposed trade (i.e. no details about whom the Jazz might trade). Just speculation that Dragic could make the...

    Phoenix Tank

Them tanking is not a big deal. Let's just say Phoenix and Philadelphia tank better than everyone and finish with the worst record and second worst record. That just gives them a bunch of combinations, not necessarily the top picks. I can't believe the Jazz would bite on Dragic. Maybe if the...

It Looks Like All the Non-Guaranteed Guys Are Gone

Locke meant that the Jazz wanted another big in addition to Kanter (young), Favors (young and foul prone), Gobert (raw), Biedrins (ineffective), Evans (injured and skinny) and Williams (injured). FWIW maybe Harris plays bigger than his actual size. I kind of had the impression that he was more...

It Looks Like All the Non-Guaranteed Guys Are Gone

Well I was right that the Jazz should keep some front court depth, I just didn't consider Harris (at 6'6") a big. @Lockedonsports Mike Harris makes roster, Jazz need another big - Marvin Williams and Jeremy Evans both injuried no back-up 4 on the roster. Harris is that

The Richard Jefferson "wow this Vet is surprisingly awesome" exclamation thread

I recall people loving Earl Watson and Randy Foye early on as well. Jazzfanz will turn on him at some point.

    Kendall Marshall to be waived??

Yeah, I wonder if he has had a real chance, but I don't know if the timing is right. Jazz have Burke and are going to be loyal to Lucas and Tinsley. Would they carry a 4th PG? Three weeks ago I think they give it a chance and see how training camp goes. Today, not sure.

It Looks Like All the Non-Guaranteed Guys Are Gone

If I'm the Jazz I keep either McGuire or Cook just for the length. The frontcourt is just too thin IMO: Kanter - appears solid but still young Favors - same, but foul trouble can be an issue Evans - speaking of being thin...tough for him to play PF for really long stretches if needed, plus he...

    Tinsley signed!?!?!

It will happen (or it may happen), but it will take time. It took Stockton & Malone 6 seasons after Dantley's departure just to reach the Conference Finals the first time. Same deal for Drexler, Jordan, Barkley (once Erving retired and Malone was traded), Ewing. It took each of them time to...

It Looks Like All the Non-Guaranteed Guys Are Gone

Not only are those three injured but Evans has missed games and Biedrins hasn't exactly lit the world on fire (not that anyone expected him to do so). In addition, Clark has $200K guaranteed. From late December (when the team hits 33 games) to January 10 (when contracts become guaranteed) the...

    would you consider this?

Neither Jones nor Roberson has done much to impress me thus far. I'd take either one, but with a pick, not instead of a pick.

Preseason Game: The Jazz @ Lakers ...Countdown to the Regularity...

Regarding Ian Clark's guaranteed money: according to Sham Sports he has $200K guaranteed this season, which means the Jazz are paying him for the first ~33 games. Expect him to stick that long unless someone really outplays him at a position where the need is greater.

I haven't played for a few years, but I'm in if there's still a spot. Will PM.

Preseason #3 Clippers at Jazz Saturday Oct 12 @ 7pm

So the first quarter of the highly awaited Burke-Burks-Hayward-Favors-Kanter lineup...pretty much sucked. Favors no impact, two fouls. Kanter blocked. Burke hurt. Hayward not great. 3-for-15 from those four. Thank goodness for Burks this quarter.
