    Conley contract extension watch

Doesn't really matter at this point. They've turned that franchise into an absolute money printing machine, especially with the move into downtown SF. They can spend monstrous amounts on salary and still be raking in cash.

    Suck It Conley Haters

Honestly, that adjustment year will probably pay major dividends for Mike, not only in playing with Gobert, but remaining effective as he ages and loses the top gear.

    Trade SZN

They’re “working on it”, per Tony Jones yesterday.

    Delon Wright - Any Interest?

They'd be crazy to give up 18 outright, but I wonder if they'd swap 18 for 23.

John Hollinger Thinks Conley May Opt Out

Mike is going to make a lot of people look really silly next year. The dude is still really good. If you can secure him as a long term backup PG after this coming season, you absolutely do it. And if doing so happens to also give you extra financial breathing room for 20/21, that’s just free money.

    Interesting Trade Ideas Article

The Inquisitr is a joke, and they really shouldn’t report these kinds of things as “rumors.” A blog writer pitched those ideas with about the same level authority as any JFC user sharing a trade machine screen cap in a trade speculation thread.

The Julius Randle for Mike Conley article.

    A) Bobby Portis is not a wing B) Why would The Jazz be giving up a first in this scenario? C) The Jazz are over the cap, so no... you don’t just get $17mil in open cap space to use. You would just be giving up Conley for... Bobby Portis, and that’s pretty much it. Before you even get to...

    Re-Tool Younger Trade Idea

This is a really silly comparison to bring in... it really doesn’t make the point you think it does. A) Marc Gasol is going on 36, not his early 30s. B) Despite A, he was a key piece to winning Toronto a ****ing championship. C) Dude was a literal all star at 32, and still at that level in...

    Hot Take Post #247 1/2

The room exception is the MLE. It’s just the amount you get if you are under the cap. They aren’t separate exceptions. This offseason, the Jazz get a full MLE. Accordingly, I don’t think the savings you’re imagining are nearly as significant as you think, since they can already work out...

Following Potential Draftees - 2019 (not kidding)

He wasn’t suggesting a comparison between their play styles. He pointed out that part of Booker’s skill got hidden at Kentucky, and he wonders if there might be a similar extra layer with Keldon Johnson. Doesn’t mean they’re the same, or even remotely similar players.

You think that’s an overpay for Rudy? Wow

Dennis Lindsey promoted to VP of basketball operations. Justin Zanik promoted to GM

Tony Jones just confirmed this is specifically free agency-related. My hunch is they are gunning for Middleton. Speculation: Zanik and Khris had a good relationship in Milwaukee, and Khris was displeased when The Bucks kind stabbed him in the back. The Jazz might have a hunch he’s willing to...

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Dinwiddie is on one of the best bargain contracts in the NBA, and is a starting-caliber player who has completely bought into that team as a sixth man. The Nets would be absolutely crazy to move him.

You're the GM this offseason. What do you do?

Pretty sure we can’t trade Favors for Conley. Favors counts as zero dollars until his contract guarantees, and it’s not like a team option where you can just opt into it in advance then count his salary. So, until July (7th?), Favors counts as $0 in any trade. Pulling off a swap for Conley...

    Summer 2019 Roster Discussion

Favors doesn't have an option, so there's no opting in necessary. This makes him more valuable, actually, because if the receiving team simply wants cap space, they can waive him by his guarantee date (July 7, I believe). That said, I really don't want to see Favors go.
