Breaking News: top ranked HS players don't always live up to their billing ! HA HA !!!

There's duds every year... It's easy to say the Harrisons were vastly overrated, the truth is the entire lot of PG's from that 2013 recruiting class were overrated, and the Harrisons and Kasey Hill's ranking benefited for sure.

I'd ask; Who should have been up there on those HS rankings instead of the Harrisons? Tyler Ennis?? Zach LaVine??? think about it... With the benefit of hindsight, I'd have to say thats clearly what happened.

Here's some proof that the HS scouting services really did a poor job placing the 5 star guards in order in 2013. Rysheed Jordan, Kasey Hill, etc.

Anyways, can I request yall bump posts from the 'Wiggins lacks killer instinct' brigade ??

This has nothing to do with a HS ranking, this is us talking about a player who was already mostly done with their Freshman year and people thinking he was still worth a lottery pick.

I don't think dude realizes basketball exists past HS, tbh.

This is a common knock on him. There is some concern whether he wants it badly enough.
Jabari hasn't demonstrated a ton of that either.
Though those are my top two, Randle is the one that does have that.. his on court demeanor is badass.

More killer instinct talkers.

You're like a 2 year old that thinks they can't be seen when they cover their eyes.

The point that went over your head is, whichever starting point you want to make it about with the Harrisons, lets say when they were "mostly done with their freshman year" - they were already riding the wave of hype/expectations that comes with being top-ranked at your position in HS. Ya can't deny that.

That distinction had already been made long ago, Dickie V was already screaming "they're fantastic, they're diaper dandies, they're P-T-P'ers"... they we're left trying to fulfill unobtainable expectations, when you consider the actual talent involved. This is around the time that Tyler Ennis was supposed to be a 4 year starter at Syracuse, and people thought Zach LaVine was 6'3" and 155lbs..

Looking back; is the Harrison's story really that much different from Rasheed Suilamon? I dont think so, the main differences are the ones I've outlined in these surrounding paragraphs.

They weren't as quick as people thought, Is that really on them though? IMO thats much more on the people who evaluated them and held those beliefs to be true. Killing posters on this board for co-signing what those professionals were at a consensus about, is something that eludes me, I don't see the purpose.

To be clear; I'm saying, with the benefit of hindsight. The Harrisons achieved those lofty rankings, in part, due to a dearth of talent at the position, and then the masses ran with it, (Including me). If the HS services had realized it was to be a down year for PG's they could've still put the Harrisons as the top guards in the class and placed them in the teens, Instead they put them in the top-10, **** blew up out of proportion, and people ran with it for 2 years.....

I know they're a couple inches smaller but the Harrisons (maybe one more than the other, just don't ask me which one) always reminded me of Joe Johnson. Sort of look slow but maybe they're not as slow as one thinks, smooth shot, decent builds.

OK, I get your point and agree with it.

As someone who pays little attention to HS rankings, it was easy to tell the Harrisons weren't all that from their first year at Kentucky. They weren't necessarily bad college players, but they failed to stand out at all as having any NBA level skills. I thought that should have been pretty obvious to anyone who follows college basketball with the intent of projecting NBA talent.

And as far as Suilamon, a lot of his short comings are attributed to attitude, no? Harrisons seemed to be good workers and good kids who just weren't that good at basketball. So think there are some differences there.

This.
Most of us don't have time to watch tons of college basketball so we mostly trust what experts and other people who watch lots of college ball say.

Bumping threads to prove you were right or others were wrong is pretty dumb, childish, and insecure imo

It's kind of what these threads are about and something A-Train/WC subscribes too. It's not like we are involving an innocent bystander.

It's cause A-Train is always going, "well you thought this player was gonna be good so that's why you're dumb!!"

Anyways, stop white knighting and if you read earlier in this thread (either this page or the previous one), this issue has already been addressed.

I guess you may be right about A-train (I have no idea) but as for what the thread is for, I think it's more for discussing and learning about draft prospects.

If it were about proving who was right and wrong then it seems like there would be more posters taking about who was right and wrong than just two
