    Your top 5 videogames

This exactly. It's not as good as the original. Or Valkyria Chronicles. Though note that both of those are top 5 all-time for me, so saying it doesn't live up to those two is far away from saying it sucks. It's very good, in fact. Just hard to improve upon perfection.

    Your top 5 videogames

The Chrono Cross soundtrack is a merciful god, and forgives you your heresy. However, I'm not sure the vengeful videogame gods will forgive me for forgetting to put SSX 3 and Dark Souls on my honorable mentions. :(

    Your top 5 videogames

In chronological order, since I couldn't possibly rank my top 5: 1) X-Com: UFO Defense It's staggering how complex and how perfect this game is, both in the strategic component in the tactical one. Even more staggering is that it's never been duplicated, not even by the well-publicized...

Where great games are concerned I tend to be a completionist / compulsive side-quester. So those type of things tend not to bother me. For example, I haven't played AC Black Flag yet, but I can almost guarantee I would've done all the sidequests I could've done already at that point. I just...

    Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books

Rainwild was pretty disappointing, no? It seemed like the daytime TV series of the Elderlings stories or something. The parts about the feelings/insecurities of Thymara (sp?) and her two love interests really, really dragged. And all the other relationships, too. It was okay when you got...

    Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books

Huh. This is interesting. I found the second one to be clearly better-written and paced. Except perhaps the Felurian (sp?) part. That part dragged. Also all the Denna stuff drags in both books. I have to admit that I wonder how he plans to wrap the whole thing up in just one book. The...

    Sci-Fi and Fantasy Books

Get on that, bro! Book 2 was my favorite of the trilogy... though since it's a continuous story anyway, you really gotta read 'em all. You're missing out.

    Netflix recs?

There are now 3, and they've gotten longer. Hence my planning to never visit there again. Boo commercials. Hmm. Might have to look into noscript, though I'm just generally leery of installing browser extensions at all.

    Netflix recs?

Where surely you can play the episodes commercial-free? Oh wait, no you can't. And commercials are for suckers.

    Netflix recs?

Netflix is much better for TV than movies. It's pretty awful for movies, honestly.

Ouch. Might I make a recommendation? Order something off ibuypower.com. You can set yourself up with a lot more power per dollar than going for one of the name brands. And they still offer you a warranty. I was in the hunt for something really high end about six months ago, but was too lazy...

This is a sure sign from the gods that they, too, think the original was better anyway. Seriously though, that sucks. Do you at least have most of your files backed up? What component of your PC died? How old was the PC?

    Science vs. Creationism

Um... no? Well I guess I'm not a "thinking person" now. I have no idea where you're deriving the premise "really really big = must be Creator" from. As I said in my post, I acknowledge that it's quite possible there's a Creator. I'm not going to count it out. But we have no real way of...

    Science vs. Creationism

Two points that I'll try to keep short/concise: 1. As an atheist-leaning agnostic, I accept there's a fair possibility that some supreme being ultimately created matter (the Big Bang). It's not really all that much more implausible than matter just coming into existence one black day for no...

You get better at handling it. You just sort of have to practice orienting the thing so you are shooting at enemies off the side of the vehicle, such that when they fire back at you, you can drive forward or backward to sidestep their shots. Enemy fire moves so slow in this game that you don't...

What system did you play RDR on? If you buy used I always recommend going the PS3 route if you can. There's a really excellent/effective scratch-resistant coating on the discs. Even if they're scratched up, you can just buff out the scratches with your shirt, or even your thumb. But if you...

    PS4 vs X Box One

I order basically everything off of Amazon... but buying an actual system is one of the few things I save for a brick-and-mortar store, usually Gamestop. I figure their shipments will probably be better handled than my individual shipment (less likely to be damaged in transit). Also, it gives...

Duuuuude. Yeah. You really need to check out Okami again. Especially now, you can just download the HD remake version for I think $15. So great. Definitely on my short list of best games ever. Only thing that really kills me about it is that long un-skippable intro. Ugh.

I enjoyed it. Gameplay is so basic, but it's one of those rare games that has such artistic beauty that you could almost play it just for that. Valkyria Chronicles and Okami had the same level of prettiness going on, though IMO they were both stronger in the gameplay department. Two of my...

    PS4 vs X Box One

Yeah, in my own personal view, this was the rough progression this generation: 2005: 360 comes out, has pretty good library of games out the gate, though of course fairly heavy on games that were more enhanced ports than they were true "next-gen" games. 2006: PS3 released. Looks bad next to...
